Today, the Great Britain Gambling Commission published new data on the gambling industry. This new set of numbers comes from licensed betting operators in Great Britain. It covers online and in-person gambling.

The new data allows us to compare trends during Q1 of the financial year 2024 to 2025 with Q1 of 2023 to 2024.

An overall growth

In the first quarter (April to June), the Gross Gaming Revenue was £1.46 billion (€1.73 billion), which is 12 percent higher compared to the same quarter last year.
The total number of bets and spins increased by 11 percent year-on-year, reaching a new high of 24.5 billion.
The average monthly active accounts in this period also grew by 9 percent.

Real event betting: €740 million

Real event betting earned £625 million (€740 million), a 16 percent increase from the previous year. Despite a 7 percent decrease in the number of bets placed, there was an 11 percent rise in average monthly active accounts.
The UEFA Euro 2024 and similar major sports events played a significant role in this growth.

The number of spins increased by 12 percent to 22.4 billion, and the average monthly active accounts rose by 11 percent to 4.4 million per month.
These figures represent peak levels for revenue, spins, and active accounts in the slot machine category.
